The healthy country life style of Graham and the availability of affordable land continues to attract newcomers as it has for over 100 years. Majestic views of Mt. Rainier give added incentive. While most find their income outside the community, an increasing number of local businesses provide jobs and services within. Pierce County’s Graham Library and Pierce Transit services have also added greatly to Graham’s livability.

Although farming has dwindled, there remains a strong sense of our agricultural past with the presence of small dairies, mink ranching, horse breeding and the many small farmsteads that dot the area. Graham has the foundation, both historically and economically, to add more interesting chapters in its story of growth and change.

Cheers for Our Volunteers!

2nd Annual Grazing in Graham, Frontier Park
Saturday, July 24th, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

The first annual Grazing in Graham was a huge success, thanks to our committee handling all the details.

The committee must direct communications to and between multiple sponsors, businesses, vendors, and the public. Not only do the members of the GIG committee handle these headaches on top of their personal business commitments, they also battle the hurdles of putting on a brand new event, such as garnering interest and translating it into participation and funding.

The 2nd Annual Grazing in Graham was a lively and engaging event! Local businesses set up booths and connected with the community amidst the barbeque cook-off competition, kid zone, and live entertainment. Sponsorship and business involvement are key to the event, but the success of the day will also be largely due to the many hours put in by the GIG committee. Thank you to our hard-working volunteers:

Art Davila
Nancy Hinschberger
Kate Reynolds
Karen Dole
Heidi Smith
Doug Berry
Mike England

Thank you also to Peg Greiwe, and the other volunteers of GBA who help put this event together.

GBA Member Spotlight Le Cupcake

Le Cupcake - Find your flavor!
by Lina Blount

Entering Le Cupcake plunges visitors into a sweet-tooth paradise. Beautiful cupcakes and sweets tempt at the front counter and the cozy, artsy interior allows customers a lovely environment to enjoy their snacks. I would especially recommend the Caramel Mocha Cupcake! The gooey center and decadent frosting melts in your mouth and provides a hefty pick-me-up during mid-day blahs. When sugary goodies don’t whet your appetite, a menu of fine teas, soups, and sandwiches awaits.

The Owners

Faith Guptill was the family baker, making elaborate cakes and catering weddings for relatives and friends as she balanced her work as a mother and science teacher at Frontier Junior High School. Faith began to develop the concept for Lé Cupcake in 2006 when the family cakes gained acclaim at local Italian restaurant, Amici!

Lehte Allen found her passion for food at an early age, inspired by her mother and first jobs in local pizzerias. Lehte earned her degree from the California Culinary Academy, and worked as pastry chef for Taste Restaurant before returning to Graham. Lehte is thrilled to come back to the same space she started in and share her skills with the Graham community.

Lé Cupcake is located at 9915 224th St. E., Suite 218 in Graham. Their hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 9am-9pm and Sundays, 9am-5pm. Stop by and enjoy their gourmet cupcakes, tarts, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, soups, tea, coffee and specialty cakes.
